Recently a Holland truck driver named Richard Dain made quite the accomplishment. He was able to drive for 3 million miles without having an accident. This is an enormous achievement for any professional truck driver. In fact, only 35 actively running Holland truck drivers have made this goal. Dain shows that it is entirely possible, though, if you are dedicated to safe driving. Find out more about what Holland did to recognize Dain and his 3 million safe mile record.
In order to honor Dain, Holland held a celebration for the truck driver from Wisconsin. Dain currently works in Appleton, Wisconsin as a linehaul truck driver taking freight over to Minneapolis, Minnesota. In all of his 36 trucking years, 28 of these years have been as a truck driver for Holland. He was driving a route from Milwaukee to Chicago, which is tough to traverse as a truck driver especially as a new hire like Dian was back in those days. Dain isn’t the only truck driver in his family. In fact, his uncle also works for Holland at the Appleton service center, while his father retired from the carrier years prior.
According to Holland President Scott Ware, “We are enormously proud of Richard and his trucking safety achievement. This record represents decades of constant vigilance and unwavering professionalism behind the wheel. His dedication to safety makes our highways safer and helps Holland deliver award-winning service to our customers. We congratulate Richard on his accomplishment and thank him for his continued commitment to safety.”
To celebrate Dain’s accomplishments in safe truck driving, Holland had a celebration at the Appleton location in January 2019. This celebration included an awards ceremony followed by a luncheon. Dain was honored by Holland managers, as well as representatives from the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The truck driver was presented with several gifts that included a jacket, truck decal, and a personalized ring all in recognition of his achievements.
